Welcome to the fourth episode of “Business in 90 seconds” an informative session on creating new business models.
We all know about the story of the legend, Sir Issacc Newton who was sitting under an apple tree when he was bonked on the head by an apple and that “aha” moment, prompted him to suddenly come up with his law of gravity theory.
In business, we all look forward for this “aha” moment, to come up with a disruptive business model, or disruptive product so that we could capture the market, increase profitability, growth, valuation etc. But we all forget a small but significant fact, how did Sir Issacc Newton come up with this law of gravity, the fact is “ he was sitting in a contemplative mood” which means he was in a prolonged thought process with respect to gravity. If he was working in an apple field and while take rest, if the apple bonked his head, he would have taken the apple and ate it.
How many of us are in this contemplative mood, desperately looking forward to bring in this dramatic shift or have this quantum focus to experience dramatic business transformation. If not, we need to start cultivating this habit by a) start doing the same things differently b) start looking at things differently, this will help you develop the contemplative mood, and you will have the “fall of apple, aha moment” experience.
Stay tuned for my next show with another insight, next week……………
