Episode 7 – Albert Einstein’s theory on Domains of Knowledge

Welcome to the seventh episode of “Business in 90 seconds” an informative session on business insights.

This week I wanted to share Albe

rt Einstein’s theory on Domains of Knowledge, he explains that there are three domains of knowledge, first domain – things that we know that we know, example an activity like brushing the teeth, we know that an activity called brushing the teeth exist and we all know how to brush the teeth, these kind of activities constitutes 15% in the domains of knowledge, second domain – things that we know that we don’t know, example an activity like brain surgery, we know that an activity called brain surgery exist but most of us do not know how to do brain surgery, these kind of activity constitutes another 15% in the domains of knowledge.

Third domain – things that we don’t know that we don’t know, the untapped area, this represents rest of the 70% of domains of knowledge, explored, uninhabited, untapped, a move to this zone creates innovation, transformation, out of the box thinking.

Let’s take one example of movement to this area, Tesla car, how does it run, if we think in one sentence, battery in the center, powering four wheels, around 100 years of R&D, no one came up with this idea other than Tesla, innovation to the untapped area that we don’t know that we don’t know. Same in business, there are a lot of powerful business models or products exists in this untapped area. Let’s try to put our feet into this zone.

Stay tuned for my next episode with another business insight.
